Richard Branson

It seems to be a virtual rule of thumb that some kids have issues integrating into the main stream education system, but yet they touch the stars as adults, especially when it comes to hitting the high C success wise. Perhaps being ticked off by teachers and parents grows a second skin, a harder one. They learn that in order to survive they will just have to play down their Achilles heel, and build on their own resourcefulness. Richard Branson, who could never claim to being the top of his class, once said “My interest in life comes from setting myself huge, apparently unachievable challenges and trying to rise above them…from the perspective of wanting to live life to the full, I felt that I had to attempt it” Born under the sun sign of Cancer, our inspired Richard rose above all challenges when it came to his ingenious business solutions. With his blonde, “King Arthur” good looks he has created his own Camelot, and is considered a “transformational leader” Branson came kicking and screaming onto planet earth with an original plan. It was to make a lot of money and become a standard bearer for thought-provoking endeavors.

Mercury in Leo would have helped him keep his eye on the road in this regard, pushing him towards his goal. Add to that, a shining Leo sun in Mercury and nobody could hold back his illumined thought processes and high voltage communication capacities. He has starred as himself on shows like Friends, Baywatch, Birds of a Feather, Only Fools and Horses, Goodness Gracious me etc entertaining many, and certainly making the odd female heart flutter. So being a slow student was no skin off Richard’s nose in the greater scheme of things, in fact he was the kind of teenage dude who was good at sports and having fun. He forayed into the “wheeling and dealing” facets of life at 16 years old with a magazine called, wait for it, “Student”.  His next deal with setting up a mail order business, and then he moved on as we all know, to become a billionaire with his successful Virgin Records, Virgin Megastores, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Virgin Mobile, Virgin Blue, etc. His only planet in the sign of Virgin, or Virgo, is Saturn. Since Mr. Saturn is a cosmic teacher, and a very resourceful one at that, the placement fell in Richard’s favor. It would have gifted him with a capacity to build a resilient backcloth to his affairs, learn the value of life experience, and encourage his ingenious endeavors.

Saturn would have also reminded him to cultivate patience in the face of adversity as per his heroic record breaking trip across the Atlantic in his “Virgin Atlantic Challenger”, the boat capsized. He was rescued by a RAF helicopter. But he tried to beat another record, and in 1991 successfully crossed the Pacific from Japan to Arctic Canada, in a balloon, cruising at a speed of 245 miles per hour. As far as his emotions are concerned, this man loves the ladies with a seductive moon in Leo. When he was a young man dating would have been fun, especially with Venus in Gemini making him a chatty kind of guy, more attracted to a gutsy babe who could keep him laughing than your classic beauty queen. He is now on his second marriage and his north node would ensure a deeply sensitive approach, with a need to draw lines around his personal relationships when it comes to privacy. He needs stability, a rich family life, and is less prone to emotional “exploration” when it comes to one-on-one relationships.

Signing controversial bands such as Faust, Can Can, the Sex Pistols and Culture Club would be far easier for Richard than discussing a marriage crisis. When it comes to business, Richard Branson has learnt to react with gutsy intensiveness, and sometimes bet on Lady Luck to save the day. In fact, Lady Luck has always saved his day, may be because she loves the brave. Pluto in Leo encourages him to fulfill a humanitarian mission, to create a better world for his grandchildren, to build into a higher perspective of life overall. In March 2008, he got together with world leaders, celebrities, movers and shakers on one of his personal islands to discuss a plan to resolve global warming, his intent to lift up consciousness, and expand awareness. His moon in Leo will always guide him forwards in this kind of enterprise; make him a colorful character, but a noble one, a world player but a down-to-earth one. Certainly he is an eye catching personality, but he is on the right track, and indeed over the next year or two will liaise with others to create an avant garde group of individuals working to find ideas that lead the world to economic expansion and a “Greener” future. Maggie Philbin

To say Maggie Philbin, radio and TV presenter, is a nice person would be an understatement! She is also a well turned out Cancer, looking good in leather pants and chic suits alike. And just look at that big, generous smile. She has a natural warmth and empathic glow to her persona. A strong, earnest lass, with her sun sign is Cancer, she does not exactly have a closet penchant for adventure, but she will give something risky a go! Two of her claims to fame were riding a Top Fuel Dragster, and flying upside down in a Hawker Hunter on Tomorrow’s World. Her producer would have said “Go on Maggie, get in the Hawker Hunter!” and she would have been too darned curious to say no. A jolly Mercury in Cancer will always encourage her to take the proverbial “bull by the horns” and get on with it!  She has a quick mind, can assimilate ideas at the speed of sound. 

 

She will sit with you for hours debating Green issues, or the way the world is going, she loves to express her ideas at a rattling pace, may be because Mr. Mercury is one of her best astro pals. He inspires her, makes her quick on the uptake. Mr.M also insists in popping into her Venus, hence her love life will not be of the “bodice ripping” typology. She wants a guy who has a grip on the facts of life, someone who can put up a kitchen shelf and partake of a stream of fun repartee simultaneously. Yet there is some contradiction to her emotional world; Maggie’s sun sign can make deeper sentiments surprisingly difficult to deal with, she expects a lot from her partners and friends. She wants them to be full on genuine, and when they are not she feels crushed. With her sun blazing high in Cancer, Maggie is a fabulous mum. Okay she might snap at Rose suddenly, all moody Cancer style, but her Mars also in “homey” Cancer will make sure their environment is Feng Shui balanced and loving. Maggie knows “little things mean a lot”, and will take care of the details, i.e. where a vase is placed, exactly the right spot for a favourite picture, making sure she and her daughter sip coffee in a kitchen with sun streaming through its windows, etc. Now we will let you into a secret, the true reason for Maggie’s success is Jupiter in Leo: Like Julie Andrews she could burst into a song like “Climb Every Mountain”, at the drop of a hat. Maggie is a humanitarian. There will be many good works she will want to participate in; she is already a patron of the National Osteoporosis Society for one. You see that charismatic Jupiter shines all over her and those rays are warm and enlightening, making her popular and beloved.  She knows that life is a rich tapestry, and she will want to integrate as many experiences as possible into her time on this planet. “I may not have the stereotypical head for business, but I have feet that were made for heels,” Cancerian Tamara Mellon once commented. Even though this lady is so concerned with feet, she needs her business head screwed on straight to be the President of the Jimmy Choo Shoe Empire. She is the founder of world renowned cultish footwear worn so frequently in “Sex and the City!”, you know, the super high heels, the sexy designs that make any celebrity worth their salt, and that includes Elton John, shop as if they can shop no more! Blame it on her Mars in Libra, who gifted Tamara with a style that has us falling in love with those 21st century winklepickers! And make no mistake she has more than enough chutzpah to expand on that ingenious talent! But may we suggest all this resourcefulness might have something to do with an intriguing mix match of Sun Sign in Cancer and parental genes? She adores her ex Chanel model mum for better or worse, most Cancers love their mamas, but add on a sensitive Mr. Mercury in Cancer and this lady will have gently assimilated her mater’s fashion flair, and her  entrepreneur dad’s eye for business.

In fact, “Jimmy Choo” has morphed into a fashion mantra guaranteed to get the celebs reaching for her pocket books! Their distribution to the general public is high class Kensington, their wear and tear, the red carpets of numerous Award Ceremonies such as the Oscars and Golden Globes. I mean, how can a star look a million dollars in that Versace gown, without the right shoes?!!  But Tamara is not only an exquisite lady with cartloads of charm; she is also a loving woman with her own share of emotional challenges.

 

She recently broke up with Christian Slater with whom she was very close for some time and is divorced from the banking heir Matthew Mellon, with whom she has a beloved daughter; Believe it or not, Mr. Mellon hired a Private Eye to trail her when they were going through their divorce in 2005! An extravagant Venus in Leo will gift Tamara with such a warm and loving heart she will be virtually irresistible. David Gonzalez Giraldo

David Gonzalez Giraldo was born in the sign of Cancer on July 20 1982; and the phrase “handsome is as handsome does” could only apply to him. This is a kid with a future, his powerful 6ft four inches frame making him one genial goalkeeper for his Club Atletico Huracan, Argentina. His Jupiter in Scorpio will have gifted him with a refined skill on the field; he will be able to rise to the occasion magnificently, almost every time. He could get overly sentimental, his moods change as quickly as English weather. He has his own very personal visions and aspirations, and 80 percent are about football. As a child he would have dreamt of making it in the “beautiful game” as he kicked up the dust in a field or piazza, and due to his considerable talent, and friendly nature, the right people popped up to guide him forwards.  His character is so laid back, it could be horizontal at times, and people might think he is shallow or superficial. He probably thought he had on numerous occasions, but the game came between them, and it was difficult to maintain both full on, after all he is still acquiring experience as to how to manage his career and social life in a balanced way. He is not inclined to open out about his inner motivations, in fact he could seem a bit of a “dark horse” but this is because he wants to keep life light hearted. He does not believe in confiding in people too much, especially when he is troubled. Mars in Libra shows he prefers to be a fun and socialising type of guy, needing his mates around to de-stress. Luke Marsden

Above and beyond his popularity on Big Brother, if you would have told the cute, usually suit clad, Luke Marsden a while back that he would be so successful he would have cheered, for at least one of his dreams had finally come true! He was a sweet kid, rather introverted at times. Any teasing would have had him turn gloomy, the fault of sun in Cancer making him one of the ultra sensitive brigade! On his Big Brother interview, he said women thought he was gay, and that he was probably bad in bed. Very endearing statement which got him loads of fans. On that occasion sensitive Cancer was eclipsed by a very Aries moon, a moon that knew what it was doing and got him on the show. Those moon vibes will continue to push that contrast button, and show him up as a full on, go-getting laugh a minute in complete contrast to his rather prim, self confessed virginal demeanor. Such a laugh in fact, that his bizarre antics have us falling about, and let’s face it everyone adores a fun guy.

His reports on wrestling, one of his prime interests, put him on the front page originally. He has a nose for getting noticed. Be not surprised to see him start up a skew ball rap session, yet another ruse to catch our attention, in fact we can expect anything from one moment to the next. Girlfriends will come and go but Luke’s leadership genes and fidgety attitudes will stay, making him a surprising winner. A geeky guy with a Hulk sub personality, he plays Jimi Hendrix guitar to millions of adoring fans… in his fantasies. Yes, as we said, he does dream. Okay some might scoff at his speedy new found fame, yet do not underestimate Luke Marsden. 

His Saggy ascendant will teach him big bucks can come and go, but he will never allow fame to color his values. He will learn to ignore those who judge him by standing up to his own emotional reactions, cultivating that empathic personality and delighting his audience. His Saggy ascendant will make him consistently bright, able to read a situation fast and analyse which corner to turn next. In fact, being silly will never be meaningless, new doors will open up to a truly comedic destiny. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

“We acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we, from time to time, most grievously have committed, by thought, word and deed”. These words could have been pronounced by a princess on the eve of 12th century wedlock; instead they were spoken by Charles’ lover and Cancerian sun sign Camilla Parker Bowles on their wedding day. Some people would classify Camilla as an archetypal Blue Blood, a Lady of the Hunt; she is currently the second most powerful woman in the United Kingdom, next to the Queen. Camilla hails from an esteemed upper class family, the great granddaughter of Edward VII’s mistress, Alice Keppel, and the great-niece of Violet Trefusis, who caused a scandal in the twenties when she eloped with intellectual Vita Sackville West, interesting to note a familial tendency to become implicated in tortuous out of wedlock relationships with royals or upper class intellectuals. But let us be blunt, Destiny arranged her meeting with Charles.

Their love was kept under wraps until the 1990s when the Camilla gate scandal reared its ugly head. In Diana’s controversial BBC interview, she inferred that Charles’ relationship with the “Rottweiler” had been going on from the time of their engagement. Many a courtier realised a desperate last encounter between Camilla and Charles had been arranged on the eve of that doomed royal marriage. Yet we forget that Charles and Camilla met years earlier at a polo match, when Camilla was a blue eyed stunner, with a passion for horses.  From our perspective, they are Twin Flames – souls united in one Spirit, with an inexplicable attraction harking back to past lives. Separated from each other, they would wither away, unable to contain the heartache. Yet together, the trauma their relationship caused would be earth shattering. The catastrophe that followed marked the Royal Family forever and even touched the integrity of the throne. But all was forgiven, as is frequent in the best of families.
 
On her marriage to Charles, Camilla was awarded the title of Princess of Wales, and presently carries out royal engagements of her own, but uses one of her other titles – Duchess of Cornwall (or Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland). To all intense and purposes she is rolling up her sleeves and “getting on with it!” Some sections of the British Public might have even taken to her, may be because”what you see is what you get” with Camilla, and notwithstanding the distress of Diana’s death and the shake up within the Royal Family, this lady continues to be fun! She could seem shallow, but the fact is she simply does not want to “delve into the deeper meaning of trauma”.  Laughing is on her list of things to do, as is enjoying financial security and having her basic physical comforts met. Turning a blind eye to other people’s foibles is a far easier system as far as she is concerned, as long as she gets what she wants, and nobody threatens her status quo. She loathes emotional outpourings and hysteria generally.

Her idealistic Jupiter in Scorpio would make her aware of a “great purpose” working through the tissue of her life, and yet it is not about the public’s judgement of her perceived betrayal of Diana, but about her own inner truth and nobility of purpose, about being loyal to those she loves above all.  Give Camilla her horse, and a merry gallop up the dales with Charles, and she will touch the best of times in the worst of times.  She is capable of joking about the misery of existence on Sunday, and ordering an exotic new hat on Monday. When the odd mini quake happens behind the palace walls, she will only speak her mind when she is ready; not when it is expected of her! She never understood why Diana made all that song and dance about things. It was embarrassing, it was demeaning. She seemed naïve, deranged almost. 

Mr. Mars in Gemini would prefer her to nurture a more down to earth nature; it eases the future King of England’s heart, he can be himself with her, forget his tortured childhood and lonely adolescence.  A frightened little boy, an angry man, a hurting soul, Camilla will understand his moods with a laugh and a joke. She never mocks, she laughs with him. He does not feel emotional neediness on her part, not like he felt with Diana anyway, even though she is so sensitive with that Ms Venus in Cancer. She can be quiet at times too, borderline dreamy, staring into the distance, unable to put into words exactly what she feels. She lets her Charles do that for her, he does it better. Camilla never plays head games with anyone, Charles loves that about her. She is to the point, only easily wounded if he does not understand her good intentions. She will then withdraw into that sulky silence for a couple of days. It would have taken all that she could muster to overcome the public’s dislike of her, Charles knows that, appreciates that, the scorn of the press hit deep. The entire struggle to be together was so grueling to both of them, weighing on their souls and sometimes presses on the cracks in their relationship. Yet communion with dogs and horses will always help Camilla rediscover that solid inner stability again.

Charles loves her motherly attributes that wholesome attention of hers, focused on him. Again Ms. Venus in Cancer would make her a true giver, a motherly woman who adores her kids, happiest with her family around her.  Practical, hilarious, affectionate, sexy, .sporty, noblesse oblige, Camilla is the right woman for Charles. She might find it hard adjusting to a prying press, to a rigid hierarchal system, to the Royal Family’s quirks, but she will just get on her horse, and ride off into the hills again, the rain on her face, ready to buy a silly hat as soon as the mood takes her.. She will get over it, she will overcome, always.

 Kind Jupiter in Scorpio would have gifted Camilla with awesome common sense, that aforementioned sense of “the fates” at play, and their mystifying greatness within all things. Well bred, yet not snobbish, patrician yet not condescending Camilla is a far, far better person than we will ever know!  For all their love, Charles and Camilla could be going through a crisis this year. The strain of past history has a hold on Camilla, she needs to feel free, not so tied up with court events, and royal needs.  She could be more nervous than usual, less able to deal with the challenges within their relationship.  A pet could die, or a person she knows could be no more, and to Camilla any loss would be devastating and unnerve her deeply. She needs to maintain that sense of universal love, her solid connection to nature, maturing within her soul, realizing something has just got to give, it might be certain aspects of her life, hopefully not her connection to Charles.  Whatever happens, there will be a way out. She will realise how hard it was for Diana at times even.  No matter how much life baffles her, Camilla will find her own way of moving through a series of inexplicable events, and losses this year, to become a richer and more fulfilled human being. Duffy

A beautiful blonde with a voice that shakes one’s innards into fast spin, a true “singer of soul”, born under the sign of Cancer, Duffy could be compared to Dusty Springfield, or even Janis Joplin, her voice is so passionate, so full of feeling. This miraculous young Grammy Award Winner was not born in Mississippi, or Memphis either, her origins are far more down to earth. She grew up with her sisters in small town Wales. Her young life was helter skelter, her parents divorced, she was placed in care, there was alcoholism in the family, and as a teen she did not just smoke cigarettes. She loved to sing, yet she was asked to leave her school choir, her voice was too big, her soul too expansive. Right from the start her Jupiter in Capricorn would have gifted her with that “shine like a diamond in the coal” vibe. She wanted to put the past right behind her. She cut her losses and worked as a waitress.  Never a girl to give up, her vibrant Mars in Scorpio gifts her with that innate capacity to keep going, to push for what she believes in, embellishing on her amazing talent, seeing it as a mission, rather than just a music career. She has since emblazoned a trail in the US, and is considered one of the most gifted young female vocalists of recent times. She has sold 5.5 million records worldwide. But back then, when fame was far more than a distant planet, she went for the jazz and blues jugular, and recorded her first mini album, of just three songs, in 2004. 

Her break came when she was introduced to Jeannette Lee a music manager. Lee got Duffy to move to London, and arranged a meeting with Bernard Butler the ex Suede guitarist. Together they created a unique sound, one that has us riveted, and has made Duffy the phenomenal star she is today. More breakthroughs came naturally; she was contracted to A&M records in 2007. Her communication gifts are obvious.  That appealing vulnerability, those fragile Cancerian energies emanate a mixed quality to her sound. She will find her way of connecting to spirituality; it could only be her way, rather mysterious, sometimes hidden, a surprise to us all. But her new attitude will bring her even more luck, and enrich her life. What is it about Meryl Streep famed film star and 2009 Oscar Nominee that makes her one of the finest movie actresses of our time? Certainly not her looks, although unusually attractive she is not a classic beauty. Her Cancer sun sign belies a shyness hidden from view at red carpet functions or award ceremonies too. Her education at the prestigious Yale University gave her the confidence to utilise her fine mind but that intelligence was never the only reason for such great talent. She could have been a lawyer giving inspired speeches to defend her clients but she would not have been as famous as she is today if she had chosen a different life path. She is an instinctive actress.

Her true gift lies within her heart and her obvious love for humanity. That talent was within her long before she excelled as a young actor at Yale Repertory Theatre playing challenging roles in the Brothers Karamazov and a Midsummer Night’s Dream. Yet she is essentially a mystery as are most genial individuals. Her horoscope although interesting is not that remarkable but it does suggest an element obscured behind the rotations of the planets an element that could be the key to her genius.
