Cynthia Payne

cynthia-payneCynthia Payne always had a gift for party planning. She was the proverbial “hostess with the mostess!” in her younger years! From an early age, when she probably threw tea parties for her teddy bears and dollies, she loved to have fun. Those who knew and loved her back then sensed something akin to a jazz band playing in her vicinity. She seemed to have more than an eye on life’s rhythm. Cynthia knew she was meant for the “extraordinary”. Growing up in bleak nineteen thirties Bognor, not a town renowned for its “spin city” vibe, pushed her to roll up her sleeves and embellish on her destiny. That cheeky grin, that impish attitude coupled with a fun Mercury in Sagittarius takes the edge off that Capricorn hard headedness of hers, no doubt about it she is a dame to enjoy life with. In fact, Saggy both in Mercury and Venus turns her into a girl who can party till the “cows came home!” A good mix of base line entertainment and every day reality Cynthia’s your archetypal free sprit “par excellence!” No prude for sure, with Ms. Mars in Virgo sex is a necessity to well being in her book, nothing to make a fuss about!

Her “no nonsense” demeanor has always endeared Cynthia to many, especially those of the opposite sex. Add an inborn “hail fellow well met!” perception of her working life and a distinctive path emerges. Perhaps it all really began when the police raided her quiet, suburban home in 1980 to put a stop to risqué-preplanned frolics. Cynthia’s entertainment cartel was geared to relieve stressed out highflying businessmen. But throw in a couple of vicars, and one or two politicians and the shenanigans are off to a good start! The chaps would let it all hang out as they caroused with an assortment of entertaining ladies, picking a pretty favorite to have even more fun with! The result – Cynthia did time for running what was considered a brothel, but remember, whatever Cynthia wants, Cynthia gets and she would get justice sooner or later. Why? That moon in Scorpio does not permit her enemies to win, she will wait by the side of the proverbial river until their corpses come floating by, metaphorically speaking of course – a Scorpio sun sigh trait.

Cynthia‘s moon incorporates a “never say die” attitude so she stands by what she believes. No hypocritical social mores for our friend. She would lay her life on the line, standing up to what she perceives as free sexual choices. Anyway, she liked her parties and she liked her friends, and she wanted to enjoy the fun on a continuing basis.  She was not going to give in to media disapproval or intimidation. The result was even more high jinks in her home, and she had the whole of England laughing about it to boot! Another police raid pulled the plug on what “the forces that be” saw as “monkey business”, The guest list at that particular gathering ranged from well known politicians, show biz folks, and hilarious undercover policeman in disguise, one envisages the whole occasion going down rather well on the Monty Python show!  Cynthia put her foot down strongly yet again. She was doing nothing wrong; the raid was an invasion of her privacy, and the intimacy of VIPs who were just enjoying all that party planning!  She was put on trial again, but decided that there should be radical changes to the UK ’s sex laws!

Her charismatic, go getting attitude won thru and she was discharged of all accusations. The happy ending is that now she is an after dinner speaker, and author of “Entertainment at Home!” It is her Jupiter in Virgo that will always encourage her to present a new way of looking at adult entertainment, something that inspires, significantly shakes up the status quo. She will keep on course, and not allow anyone to put a spanner in the works, nor take notice of super critical folks. That North Node in Pisces will push her on to a visionary, bigger picture. Cynthia will expand her communication skills, not only to win democratic sex for all with her after dinner talks, but also to win justice for those less fortunate than herself. In fact, taking some new steps towards sustaining others in need, or perhaps helping a friend in an every day capacity. This warm hearted, strong, and fabulous lady will plot out a new path, always full of that dynamic energy and always ready to shake her perceptions. Keep a look out for Cynthia, she might drop in on your area to present a fun party, or an after dinner talk; for goodness sake don’t miss it!

Keith Chegwin

keith-chegwinThere are many sides to lovable Keith Chegwin but the principle note is full on loud, somewhat quirky, and 100 percent original. More than a comic sidekick, more than an original bright spark and ex child actor, he is a complex guy, with that “Capricorn Sun, Leo Moon” thing going on. His past alcoholism could have been affected by challenging astro combinations, during a time when he was temporarily lost from view in the eighties and nineties. He might have been rather negative, and prone to thinking things would never work out how he wanted them to then, with moments of down heartedness. But his honest and openhearted book “Shaken but not Stirred” a moving account of his battle to overcome addiction has inspired many. He is of course a natural leader. Make no mistake, as funny as Keith is he is a serious dude, someone who sits in the hot seat with authority. Mercury in Capricorn will make his capacities to build a show biz career genial.  He emanates self-assurance, stands his ground, takes no nonsense, knows his limits and realises what buttons he has to press to entertain his public. He also stands by his word, and of course is well liked by his show biz colleagues.

He is, in short “a chip off the old block!” a really good guy dedicated to his profession. His rather airhead act, has us laughing in the aisles as a result.  But that act is built with intelligence, compassion, an understanding of human emotions and behavior.  He can inspire others when need be, he can carry the load when asked to. He is a good friend to a mate in dire straits. His early roles were in children’s drama and he later hit the proverbial mark when he was caste as Fleance in Roman Polanski’s Macbeth. He has participated in Dad’s Army; performed in the West End in Tom Brown’s School Days, released some fun records, and did long time stints as a BBC disc jockey. He became big time popular presenting Cheggars Plays Pop and Saturday Superstore. He does have some Renaissance man tendencies, perhaps because he is able to communicate to the heart of his public so multifariously. He endears himself to us, with that  “chip monk cum pixie” look, so absolutely cuddly and gorgeous, making us giggle at his show biz acting out.

Frankly people do not always know what to expect when it comes to Keith!  He is a law unto himself. That old phrase “if he did not exist someone would have to invent him” comes to mind!  Venus in Capricorn would have affected his private life somewhat; it would make him rather olde worlde when it comes to romance! He would want a girl friend he can play darts with, or drink down the pub, and fully supports his mission on planet earth. He might find expressing his deeper feelings difficult at times; the words he yearns to say sometimes do not come out exactly how he means them to. But he is a loving man. He married in 1982, and is father to a lovely daughter Rose, but that marriage broke up and he later tied another knot with his long time partner Maria, a woman in her own right, he likes that, he likes a girl to be independent and self aware. Theirs would be a partnership of trust, because Keith needs solid ground under his feet when it comes to the emotional side of life. But what does our Keith need to learn during his time on this earth? Well, let us say he needs to be a tad less independent, an independence he learnt as a young actor. Standing up to his fears back then, forced him to get a grip on the material world and fight to overcome his challenges.
He knows all about standing alone, and facing his inner issues, with the resulting heroic conquest of his addiction to alcohol. This is a truly interesting man, so much more than meets the eye. But there is a secret about Keith Chegwin, one that he will have realised not so long ago. This man is blessed. Mr. Jupiter, the planet of Luck and Bounty took a fancy to him when he came kicking and screaming into the world and said, this is a guy who deserves success! So good old Mr. Jupiter gifted him with a kind soul, with a creative personality and with a sincere need to contribute to this world. All our Keith has to do now is watch over his sometimes emotionally restless bent, and when he is tired a tendency to be rather sad.  But let us say his main mission is to reconnect to that beautiful child actor he was long ago, and realise how far he has come! Go for it Keith, you have happy years ahead!

Dolly Parton

dolly-partonDolly Parton is the queen of country music, right up there with Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn, her sweet voice quavering its way into our hearts and souls. Her oldie world style of presentation, does not detract from that vocal magic, she is one who can hit the high C’s without a worry on her face. A child warbler once, she is a legend in her own time now, an archetypal success story. This dirt poor Tennessee girl, with eleven brothers and sisters and three illegitimate siblings on her father’s side, was a peaches and cream girl next door, who met her boyfriend in the Laundromat when she was eighteen and married him at twenty.

She learnt to play piano, harp, banjo, guitar and penny whistle in the meantime.  She composed her first song at the age of four, some might say the words “child genius” could be applicable to her.  Her husband would not necessarily agree, he never cared about her massive success and musical talent.  He has rarely seen her perform and refers to her as “little lady”. So what is it about this petite buxom blonde that sets us all alight? Other than the fact that she is a Grammy award winning phenomena, a gifted actress, composer and philanthropist who has been entertaining us all for 44 years, nothing much.

Well surprise surprise, our Dolly is a hard headed Capricorn. Able to detach from the tumultuous tribulations of life tests, and keep going towards that winning post with a stamina that would make you and I reach for the crème de menthe. Time and time again her sentimental crooning, unfashionably voluptuous figure and quaint style have galvanised our attention. She would make Ms Chanel, the renowned Parisian fashion designer turn in her grave.  I mean those short skirts those tight sweaters. “One can never be thin or rich enough!” would  apply to Dolly if you scratched out the word “thin”, however there is a lot of “rich” to her. Her love songs have sold millions of copies worldwide, somehow she manages to hit the nail on the head when it comes to empathic vocal communication.

Some of her hits are; “9 to 5″ “Coat of Many Colours” “Jolene” “Just because I am a woman”, and more. Great vocalists such as Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, and Olivia Newton John have covered her numbers with gusto.  She had two Oscar nominations for “Traveling through” and “Transamerica” as an actress too. Too much? Okay again, what gives with this cutie pie, this southern “butter would not melt in her mouth, belle of the ball”. Clearly she is one sharp lady with a fun, rather unrefined sense of humour. A pop phenomenon who during the eighties managed to get a number of her songs on “Top of the Pops.” She hit the jackpot singing duo with Kenny Rogers; their “Islands in the Stream” was number one in 1983 for two weeks. But how does she do that “so charming” bit, how does she look far less than her 63 years, Botox?
Well she is also very naturally cute but certainly “not the face that launched a thousand ships”. She is a fairly predictable heroine, being stalwart, talented and dignified. A true lady, there is nothing cheap about Dolly, the “cutie pie look” is just a cover up for an aristocratic soul and an evolved attitude to life overall. An attitude she covers up with screeches of laughter, and a very teasy attitude. Her Venus in Capricorn is unlikely to have her swinging from chandeliers for love either, more like warming hubby’s slippers by the fire for her. She will want to keep her huge hair in place, and she is not into romantic walks along a windy beach, she likes to look crisp, ordered, well turned out. She likes her high heels, her tight skirts and to stay in comfortable luxurious hotel suites with excellent room service.

Her Mercury in Capricorn makes her intelligent, yet rather insular when composing, playing piano and singing new compositions alone in her recording studio. She likes to do it “her way”. Keep the musical magic under her hat.  She will get up and go to bed at the same time. No all night raving for our Dolly, just some rather absurd OTT jokes that have some shocked and kept others delighted till bedtime. She will be inclined to worry staring up at the ceiling once she pulls the sheets around her, especially should a relative or friend become sick or a song not come out quite as in tune as she wanted it to be. Her North Node being in Gemini is the answer to the mystery of Dolly Parton. She will be multifarious, colourful, and light-hearted and can deliver that tinkle of a laugh echoing across stage and screen to cast a spell on us all. Yet she can sit by that fire stoking it for hubby, giving out pearls of wisdom and humane advice to passing friends, drunks, show biz bigs, anyone who happens to be passing.

She will also make pancakes, just in case you are hungry. Mars in Cancer will make her moody. Like who is that little lady with the beehive hairdo sitting at the breakfast table and screaming at you to pass the sugar? A minute ago she was a radiant, ice blonde angel without a hair out of place sipping her fruit juice. What happened? Yes Dolly is changeable, an unpredictable butterfly, even though she will look the same, sing the same, and enchant the same year in year out. But of course how can be it be otherwise? 25 hits. A singer, songwriter, even an actress staring in the The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas  for which she received a Golden Globe nomination, Rhinestone where she was paired with Sylvester Stallone, and the magnificent  Steel Magnolias.

There is something so special about this dame, something so intriguing. A sunny southern honey, capable of touching the stars, of being earmarked for great things, always unique, always shining that very special charisma. She is a constellation of talent, a bright and shining inspiration, and yet she makes us laugh, cry and yearn. This year Dolly will get one of her wishes fulfilled. It is a very private wish, a wish that will bring her great personal happiness. We look forwards to seeing her with a smile on her face as she picks up some more awards and has another couple of hits over the next two years. Nothing can stop her, she will continue to the end of her days, saying “Hello, I’m Dolly!” God bless you Ms Parton!

Nicholas Cage

Mr. Cage is not the kind of guy who squeezes his toothpaste from the middle of the tube! His socks are lined up in color blends, his shirts hung plastic covers. Why? Moon in precise Virgo. And how come that “feet on the ground” attitude is coupled with a capacity to dialogue “high philosophy” with the most enlightened sages of our generation? Our Capricorn Sun of course. It makes him reflective and perceptive. It also makes him certain of his life choices. Mr. Cage certainly possesses awareness of “Soul” yet at the same time he is on a realistic creative mission, and is more than adept at getting what he wants. He could be compared to a bear sniffing out the honey when it come to defining the right projects for his talents! He is indeed a thorough Capricorn! He once said one had to have slight “criminal tendencies” to be an actor. What he meant was he knows how to delve into the dark side of human nature and get to the winning post  because of his creative dexterity. He has been handed his acting skills on a “genetic silver tray” if you like, his half Italian half German origins plus familial connections to the Coppola’s, made sure he used ingenious genes from an early age, when he was involved in teen creative projects. In fact, these days, to prove any character’s point he will spend hours in the gym, go on special research projects utilising much self analysis so that subterranean Pluto in Virgo can push him through those astonishingly profound performances. Yes, Mr. Cage is a touch excessive and he touches those OTT emotions in our hearts too! Nobody could have remained unmoved by his superb alcoholic on a death mission” in “Leaving Las Vegas”. In fact, nothing can stop him from achieving excellence other than those Virgo-type self critical tendencies. Yet Mr. Cage is not really as complex as he sounds until it comes to romance! Initially, he will treat his beloved  ones with simple “old world” courtesy. His attraction to Lisa Presley was a case in point; he idolised her so much that she got confused!  Not confused enough to be oblivious to his  “charismatic sensuality” which compensated for gloomy moments when he dives head first into his characters and forgets to leave them behind at the studio. He has had a number of marital split ups due to his partners taking stock of his rather unique moods, need for isolation and periods of intense inner reflection. But when it comes to romantic love, Venus in Aquarius makes him court the ladies with innovative verve. Bunches and bunches of red roses, extravagant knightly gestures etc. He is attracted to stunning ladies with whom he can have intense mental joisting bouts, ladies who have the capacity to intrigue him infinitely. Jupiter in Aries is “the cream on his cake” however, it lightens his mood and makes him prone to success and opportunity, as well as rip  roaring laughing bouts especially at the highly ridiculous. But basically, he wants things clear; he wants things practical and feasible, with that Uranus in Virgo. He likes to work like clockwork – confusion and inefficiency send him around the proverbial “bend”. Mr. Cage is very much aware of the world’s environmental crisis. He will want to play an active role in pointing humanity towards the values of a clean earth (Capricorn/Virgo) and an understanding that we must all “do something” to save ourselves from possible extinction. He might even have visionary tendencies in this regard. Why? Neptune in Scorpio of course, and at some point make tough decisions about where he wants to invest his money and his talents and how to use them to fulfill his mission. In 2009/2010, he will start a new life cycle, and write the next chapter of his “Book of Life”. More creative projects are on the cards, but he will also want to concentrate on a direction, which  could lead to astounding his audience or becoming a unique presence on the world stage. Mr. Cage is “big fry”, a wonderful, complex individual, whose precise, flawless performances will lead him on to even greater achievement. His strategic vision will be tops, he will find the right collaboration for a new project and he will feel exceptionally solid within over the next month or so. One could say, he will soon be preparing the groundwork for a very different way of performing, loving and working in 2009. So watch this space!

Shirley Bassey

Shirley Bassey is a national treasure and one of the most sublime performers of her generation. She could be compared to a big cat, graceful, awesome, tender, aggressive, a mix of beauty and stealth. She was born in 8 January at Tiger Bay, Wales. A working class girl, she supported her family, but her gift, God’s gift, was lying inherent in those vocal chords. shirley-basseyAt sixteen she was already, touring in a Review called “Memories of Al Jolson” the rest is history.  She is one of the greats!  A trooper, a woman who has lived passionately, who has not balked at life’s challenges, and has stood up to the best of them. She is a Capricorn, a tough cookie, she would never let you see her cry, but she knows about tears; there have been losses in her life, people who hurt her and she felt she could never forgive them, maybe because of that bright Moon in Scorpio. Whether they were right or wrong was irrelevant to Shirley, if they offended, that was it! Her strength and resilience would push her forwards nonetheless, beyond the slights of her critics and those who did not understand her. Her talent shone through and the prizes and accolades just poured in. She can keep going for hours; rehearse so hard, everyone else will want to go home.

When she falls ill, or feels down, she is liable to switch off the lights. She was awarded Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2000 and the CBE in 1993 for her services to entertainment. Only 5ft 3″ she stands tall in talent. Why? Well that is a very apt question. One of the number one reasons could be because of her Mars in Scorpio; it simply does not make her a pushover. She gets results. She gets edgy. She stamps her foot for what is due. She expresses her “chutzpah”, she is no shy pussycat. The down side is that she gets perturbed, irritated by other people’s narrow minded perceptions and she will battle against perceived injustices until she has not one more breath left in her body, until right is done. She says what she thinks, diplomacy is certainly not number one on her hit list. What needs to be declared needs to be declared and she will stick to her word. Venus in Pisces makes love deeply felt. She falls totally, head over heels, her passion touching the stars.

She is capable of expressing feelings with overpowering performances, she bring tears to our eyes. Her friends are everything to her. Her gentleness and kindness to those of them in trouble is commendable. Loyalty is important, and no shallow people for her please. She likes them weighty, philosophical and amusing. No cocktail party bores for Shirley. She wants people around her who have lived, who express her same dedication to life. Her voice reflects her light and shadow, her loss and fulfilment. Who can listen to Shirley belt out “You will never walk alone” without collapsing in a heap? Few, we hasten to add.   When in doubt she can talk her way out of a paper bag with Mercury in Aquarius. Mercury is her salvation. It helps her remain detached when she has to. Her brain rumbles, she pulls down ideas from places she did not even know existed, expressing insightful perceptions and removing herself from overreaction when she needs to. In fact like a cat, when the time is apt she will just mind her own business and curl up in a ball in the armchair, exhausted by boring people who just do not get the point!

Shirley has had many life lessons to learn. Her exceptional talent has pushed her through infinite fiery hoops, but she came to this earth with a karmic mission, to touch hearts through her performance and she is in sincere in this intent. Shirley’s life has been touched by Fate. She could have been nothing other than a performer, it was written in her stars.

Dedicated, passionate, high principled and devoted to her gift, she will continue to exist in our imagination as a bright and brilliant star. Even her critics cannot deny she is extreme and overwhelming! 2009 is a year of changes for Shirley. She could live in another country for part of it; totally end a work pattern and set up a different perspective on lifestyle. She will narrow down goals and relax with friends. She will want to perform but softly. She will want to take stock, but with no pressure. Shirley is in for a reflective time, and we wish her the best of luck, for whatever happens, her presence on stage has been a gift to us all.
