Judith Sheindlin

judith-sheindlinHard to imagine Libran Judith Sheindlin, alias “Judge Judy” was a “daddy’s girl”, but catch a glimpse of huge brown eyes and that engaging million dollar smile and you can well believe she was a honey. Born in the 1942 she cultivated that typical Libran “butter would not melt in her mouth” appeal. Her “meat and potatoes” mother however, would have wanted her to marry a nice successful man, which of course she did rather unsuccessfully. Above and beyond her love life, she was reaching out for a different kind of star She was a young woman in the sixties, and she was breaking through barriers to get to the top of her profession. Of course daddy would have inspired her successful career in the legal system. He was a dentist, a guy who strove for excellence, and Judy followed his example not averse to using her sharp brain to cut through to the core of a problem even at an early age.

Saturn in Gemini would have made her conscientious, crossing her t’s and dotting her I’s with meticulous exactitude. Therefore her choice of a legal career was not a surprise to those who knew and loved her, especially since Mercury in Libra would have encouraged her to study all night long to get through her bar exam. She passed it in 1965 and worked in the family courts system slowly building on her “to the point, no nonsense style”. But for all her brilliance, even she could not have imagined her star strewn future career as a television personality on her own syndicated show “Judge Judy”.  She had already achieved a tough reputation; she had indeed retired amidst praise and acknowledgement. A bright and energetic senior she said, “I’m not tired. I still feel engaged by what I do and I still have people who like to watch my programme!” But her slot on her prime time show was different to anything her audience had experienced; she fulfilled a need to see justice done, the bad guys put behind bars by a petite, wholesome lady.

Soon she was pulling an audience of 10 million, mainly female fans fascinated by her sense of humor and tough attitude. Author Brendan I. Koerner commented on the success of her show. “Court-show viewers don’t seem to want moral conundrums or technical wrinkles. They love Sheindlin’s show because she offers them a fantasy of how they’d like the justice system to operate—swiftly, and without procedural mishaps or uppity lawyers. They get to see wrongdoers publicly humiliated by a strong authority figure….” Some might see this show as politically incorrect, as drastic even, they might comment that arduous trials and convoluted legalities are best left behind closed doors, but still, no one can deny this lady is a riveting, addictive watch, a well chosen crowd pleaser. Of course she would have to be a Libra, wielding her scales of justice with almost surgical precision. Yet do not be bamboozled, Judith is not as tough as she appears. That “strong take” is a super imposed professional mask, behind it you will discover a gentle soul, deeply kind to those she respects, loves and trusts.   Her head and her heart are in two different time zones.

Her head is that of a senior, well educated, astute, with a keen survival instinct. Her heart is that of a young girl, with a deep love for humanity, “compassion” could be her second name. Venus in Libra would make her a true romantic, an old style maverick fighting for old style decency and fairness. She is on a heroic quest.  She demands righteousness. Her home would be beautiful, with that Jupiter in Cancer, not one speck of dust on the mantelpiece. She would receive her “chosen ones” with warmth and life long affection.  Her motherly qualities make her a super friend and a staunch ally. With Mr. Mars blessing her in Libra, she would emanate a chic, rater refined dress sense. Conservative, borderline “prim” she emanates a sense of “togetherness”. She is driven by something deep, perhaps an unconscious need to please. She carries a torch for her father; she wants him to be proud of her above and beyond the needs of a material world.

So what is this lady’s soul mission you might ask? Well, with that north node in Virgo, serving others, being a teacher and leader, an example of how a woman can cut through the dross.  Okay, if she uses the medium of television, so what. Judge Judy is on a higher mission. 2009 and 2010 shows a spiritual influence. She could lose a close friend; she could realise that special, sweet something within her heart needs to be expressed.   She has always had a deep desire for knowledge, so she will not stop when faced with a new surprising metaphysical new take on life. She is after all, a complex, multifaceted woman, the kind of soul that grows. We will always want to watch her, and will not be surprised by any of her new life choices.  She deserves her success!  As long as we see the baddie behind bars, we will cry, “Well done Judy!”
