Kylie Minogue

kylie-minogue“I should be so lucky”, sung an adorable Gemini, the pint sized phenomena Kylie Minogue in a previous incarnation, before she became so polished, so glitzy, that utterly delectable  show biz phenomena, with a guardian angel guiding her well beyond the challenges of breast cancer, and an initial up and down music career. She now stands victorious, a world renowned star and OBE. We all remember her humble beginnings,  those Neighbour days in the 80s , when she was a cute little car mechanic Charlene Mitchell who not only fell in love with Jason Donovan, but sang a top ten duet with him called “Especially for you”. Believe it or not, their TV marriage attracted 20 million viewers!

Always super popular in Australia she won four Logie Awards including a Golden Logie for being the country’s most popular performer. But Fate encouraged her to take a trip to London where she signed a record deal with Stock, Aitken and Waterman. At the time her Mercury in Gemini she would have encouraged her to discuss different approaches to her career with them, and how she could sell her potential more. She wanted to encapsulate different aspects to her performance, but she was neither mature nor ready enough to present a sophisticated image of herself at that time.
Her debut album spent many weeks in the top twenty nonetheless, and it was the beginning of a career that brought her fame and fortune, but also complexity and challenge. She is a highly intelligent girl, with a volatile personality and an intricate mind. She flits from one idea to another, one situation to another, like a quicksilver butterfly, with her sun and moon both in Gemini, changing her opinion, thinking through emotional challenges till they turn to dust in her hands. She has sold in excess of 60 million records, still having the courage to change direction, to present another facet to her personality with Nick Cave who worked with her on “Where the Roses Grow”. It was a dark ballad of murder and lust yet it worked, her new take was accepted above and beyond her jolly style. It added depth to her. She said of Cave, “He taught me to never veer too far from who I am, but to go further, try different things, and never lose sight of myself at the core. For me, the hard part was unleashing the core of myself and being totally truthful in my music”. Yet this was the beginning of Kylie’s more soulful approach as a performer.

With that Cancerian ascendant, being truthful to her music has been challenging. She is sensitive, liable to be hurt when criticised, liable to hide her light under a bushel when over stressed by public and press attention. Her emotions are intense, difficult to express at times, even with that alert Gemini mind she can fall into a deep hole of overreaction to criticism, whether from the show biz fraternity or those she cares for. She has had some significant love affairs, one with Michael Hutchence the INXS lead singer, who as we all know, died in mysterious circumstances and who liked to “corrupt Kylie” writing the hit “Suicide Blonde” that she so inspired.

She was also involved with a French photographer called Stephane Sednaoui, and had a long term affair with the French actor Oliver Martinez, now over. Kylie might think she is not suited to commitment, but this is because of her Venus in Gemini. Yet when love is in the air she wallows in it that is until she gets into that unconscious fear of being tied down.  She does not go a whole bunch on emotional drama and is somewhat afraid of the “closer” more intimate aspects of relationships. With those sudden strong “Cancerian” emotions overwhelming her, and all that pulling back from a “fall into passion”, she can be confusing to the men who love her, usually rough diamond-type dudes. With that Mars in Gemini she can seem so detached, almost too playful and easy going. This creates difficulties, mainly because her north node in Aries makes her surprisingly introverted when it comes to love, totally opposite to her sexy image as a performer. When we see her on stage and screen, she is a free spirit, with an astonishing presentation, that awesome charisma, larger than life energy, more beautiful on stage that in real life, her astonishing lower back a fixation for males of all ages!

What gives her that warm vibe then, that communicative persona? One of her ex boyfriends said it was a combination of “geisha and manga super heroine” but we can see it is also Jupiter in Leo. Mr Jupiter encourages her to inspire us, to stimulate us as she accentuates her gifts, strutting around the stage with no self consciousness whatsoever. She is one of the greats, she has thrilled us, made us laugh and cry with her. Over the next couple of years she will find herself in a very fortunate position. There is a sort of “super Jupiter” effect, leading her to answers to her prayers. If she just stops her social rounds, her performances, and takes a trip to a wishing well somewhere, whispering what she truly, deeply desires for her life into its depths, all that she most yearns for will come to her.

That sweet innocent Charlene is still there really, the girl who just accepts life for what it is, without complications, able to welcome true love, and get married in white. If Kylie could realise that split in her persona can be united into one, we predict a wonderful, warm and loving future for her. God bless you anyway honey, you are our golden girl, and you take our breath away!
